Used Vehicle Transfer Forms
You might be permitted to transfer ownership of your vehicle to a family member without having to pay a retail sales tax. You will be asked to swear and sign a Sworn Statement in regards to a family offering of a used car in Ontario. The form is only available on the Ontario Government website. You can have the form unsigned and notarized at Notaryspace. The notary will request you to present identification documents. These include but are not limited to: passport, driver’s license or other document that clearly states your full name and a photograph.
In Ontario, Canada, when you buy or sell a used automobile, you need to complete a Used Vehicle Information Package (UVIP) and a Bill of Sale. - Year, make, model, and vehicle identification number (VIN)
- Odometer reading at the time of sale
- Confirmation of whether the vehicle is being sold “as is” or with a warranty

- Date of sale
-

It’s important to note that the UVIP and the Used Vehicle Transfer Form are essential documents when transferring ownership of a used vehicle in Ontario. The UVIP provides important information to the buyer about the vehicle’s history and helps prevent cases of fraud or misrepresentation. The Bill of Sale, along with the UVIP and the Used Vehicle Transfer Form, is often required by the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO) for the registration of the vehicle in the new owner’s name.
