In Ontario, Canada, when you buy or sell a used automobile, you need to complete a Used Vehicle Information Package (UVIP) and a Bill of Sale. The UVIP includes a Used Vehicle Transfer Form that needs to be filled out by both the buyer and the seller. • Odometer reading at the time of sale
    • Confirmation of whether the vehicle is being sold “as is” or with a warranty

The UVIP provides important information to the buyer about the vehicle’s history and helps prevent cases of fraud or misrepresentation. The Bill of Sale, along with the UVIP and the Used Vehicle Transfer Form, is often required by the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO) for the registration of the vehicle in the new owner’s name.
